Someone needs to put a stop to it. Fact Check Mania   In the golden age of journalism fact checking was done within a publication. The New York Times, for example, had a cadre of fact checkers on the staff who would look into the details of an article written in-house or from correspondents. All major newspapers and news magazines had these people. If they could not confirm a fact stated as fact in an article through some superficial research, they would call the author and go over the details, fact by fact. That would amount to cleaning up the article and making it ready to publish. Some unproven or assumed facts were removed or reworked. That’s how fact checking worked. It wasn’t the Washington post and independent outside “fact checkers” declaring the truth of things, especially when politically motivated or told to promote a big pharma lie as the truth. The “new” fact checking model was created out of spite by the Democrats in the media who were labelled “fake news” specifically by Donald Trump who was then branded a liar. It ends up exemplified by the following idiotic clip from Google News as shown below. Odd rumors sincerely and moronically fact-checked for no meaningful reason. This has to end. Cripes, what rubes.
