No Agenda-The Saturday Memo
Haven't ever donated? Or want to top off a Kinghthood? Good ideas are here. Support page
Dear Producer, Today is Earth Day, a dubious celebration that began in 1970 to mark the supposed birth of the modern environmental movement.
You can tell by the way I phrase this, that I am skeptical of this claim having worked for an Air Pollution Control agency whose beginnings were in 1955 along with most of the “modern environmental” regulatory bodies. All were triggered worldwide by theGreat Smog of 1952 in London that killed 12,000.
But hey, let’s call the beginning of everything in 1970. Why not? So No Agenda is celebrating Earth Day which is always on 4-22 with an appropriatelycheesy $4.22 donation to the show. Or add 4.22 to a more substantial donation by clicking here instead.
Everything helps. Ask yourself when was the last time you contributed? The show is important.
According to the Guardian, Earth Day is now just another hate Donald Trump gathering.
This Saturday’s newsletter highlights my visit to the California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento, which will be the location for a California and Nevada meet-up (or anyone who wants to come visit). I had no idea how cool this museum was and now regret not having visited before. And it is only a block from the AMTRAK train station. So I took the Zephyr from Emeryville to Sacto then walked to the Train Museum and also visited Old Town Sacramento which the Train Museum abuts.
Curiously, although I have often visited Sacramento, I’ve never been there either. It’s dynamite
Here are some photos I promised on the last show.
The Zephyr itself is massive. There is an observation car where the views are great.
The California State Railroad Museum Sacramento
There is a second and third floor of exhibits. The second floor gives you a great view of the massive 4-8-8-2 Cab forward SP #4294. This has to be the pride and joy of the museum.
There are a lot of realistic "scenes" of rail work throughout the exhibits.
The museum has a lot of mint condition trains from the 1800's.
I’ll be determining the date for the Train Museum meet-up within the next few weeks. In the meantime please donate to No Agenda by clicking here.
Your co-host, John C. Dvorak PS Checks are much appreciated and should be sent directly to the No Agenda Show, Box 339, El Cerrito CA 94530
