| The NPR Chronicles A lot of folks were bewildered by a national complaint by a 25-year NPR veteran, Uri Berliner, who was bemoaning the fact that NPR had lost its way and basically became a progressive-left mouthpiece that has lost credibility and dropped the ball on story after story instead focusing on hating Donald Trump. It's worth reading with a couple of caveats. Click here. The first caveat is that the writer himself is a Trump-hater as proven by this middle-of-nowhere pre-mea culpa regarding Trump mixed in with some virtue-signaling:
"Like many unfortunate things, the rise of advocacy took off with Donald Trump. As in many newsrooms, his election in 2016 was greeted at NPR with a mixture of disbelief, anger, and despair. (Just to note, I eagerly voted against Trump twice but felt we were obliged to cover him fairly.) But what began as tough, straightforward coverage of a belligerent, truth-impaired president veered toward efforts to damage or topple Trump’s presidency."He voted “eagerly” – so what? What should amuse you is the adjectives always thrown in to describe Trump. In this case “truth-impaired.” This fits in with the liar and chief memes. Meanwhile, Joe Biden tells constant lies from the windshield wipers wiping away oil from the refineries and his having cancer to his taking the train over the Scott Key bridge which has no tracks. Biden's gaffes, lies and exaggerations easily equal (or exceed) Trump's, but nowhere in the mainstream media will anyone use these sorts of adjectives to describe Biden. But by doing so in the article, the writer makes it clear that he's also a Trump-hater. So what else do we learn? The article goes on and on about journalistic failures and condemns the former CEO John Lansing in a hit-piece-like fashion. Oh, and then you realize that there is a new CEO and an article like this is written in-between bosses. How daring! If you read the article thoroughly it does tell you that NPR is doomed as it has been over-staffed with activists who are only interested in pushing a singular leftist perspective. But you already knew that. And, by-the-way, the new boss, Katherine Maher, comes from the Wikimedia Foundation and is probably even more left-leaning. So nothing is going to change and this article was an exercise in futility. Support No Agenda. |
