So much for 'no moving parts' ! You should think the fact that the ipad is composed of so much aluminum that it would work as the heat sink but apparently not..

Future Apple iPhones, iPads may have internal fans

It was revealed in a patent filing on Thursday that Apple is exploring the use of mechanical fans in portable devices, like the iPhone and iPad, to dissipate the heat made by increasingly powerful CPUs.
